I have been in private practice for over thirteen years. Clients have chosen to work with me to access a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships with others. Clients leave our work having peace with themselves, which in turn leads to peace with their loved ones and communities.
Therapy is a relational experience that humanizes what you’ve experienced as confusing, “bad,” hurtful, disconnecting. Our task will be to identify and understand experiences that have been perceived as negative, and to investigate the intended purpose of the patterns and habits that aren’t working for you. I approach “problems” and symptoms as information – something attempting to work from a deeper wisdom inside you. In other words, the very things that have been sources of pain can come to be understood and felt as methods you’ve developed to get along in the world. As difficult as it may be to feel difficult emotions, there is value in understanding emotions such as fear, insecurity, and jealousy. The symptoms that you’re struggling with are guideposts that can help you navigate your life in a direction that is more true and authentic for you.
My job is to create a trusting environment that is necessary for the process of change. As our sessions progress, you will learn how to attend to whatever is happening in your body, your emotions, and your mind. Often the result of paying attention is that anxiety, depression, and addictive qualities diffuse.
